What do the words “small business” mean to you? I understand that fundamentally there are differences between a business with a staff of 2 compared to a business with a staff of 50 but when you are in the middle of it all running a company doesn’t feel small. I worry that some times that term can be debilitating, making 1 think that their business in some way isn’t “big”. So how do we get around that mindset and focus on what needs to be done? When I am “working” on my business I ask myself “Where can I make the biggest impact?” Depending on the day it could be talking to my staff helping them with challenges they may be facing or perhaps it’s adding certifications to the Agency. All of which are vital to the growth of the business. I have a board in my office that lists all of the items needed to take us to the next level. I am a visual person and this board helps me identify the greatest impact factors facing myself and the company. It also serves a reminder to the staff of what we are trying to accomplish as a team.
As an avid sports fan I love the idea of team, competition, the adrenaline of great sports performance and the phrase “Go big or go home”. That phrase applies not only to my approach for my company but also for our clients. I get excited when I meet with a new business, even an existing client to brainstorm and discuss strategy. Thinking “big” is a great way to determine the needs of your business. Is there a branding issue, should you have a media buy in place to tell your story? Don’t think “small,” think big and ask yourself, where can I make the biggest impact in my business? Do me a favor, next time you go shopping look around at all of the big box stores, you know the Wal-Marts of the world. These companies at one time were a small business but slowly over time they changed their destiny and built themselves into something bigger. It’s possible for all of us, it seems silly but you just have to believe and it doesn’t hurt to have a team for your marketing. Share your story in a unique way and if you need help telling that story, we have a team of experts who can help.
